1. Micro-/ nano- manufacturing by ultra-short pulse laser material processing and their applications in micro-component fabrication

2. Micro-/ nano-joining by ultra-short pulse laser/micro-plasma and their applications in electronics packaging and medical devices, etc.

3. Nanomaterials/nanostructures synthesis/fabrication by chemical reduction, ultra-short pulse laser processing, arc discharge methods and their applications in electronics packaging especially for the power devices, micro-battery, etc.

4. Materials precision manufacturing such as micro-drilling, periodic micro/nano-structures by ultra-short pulse laser and their applications in welding and joining, microfluid devices, etc.

5. Joining/welding of advanced materials and special materials in similar or dissimilar joints such as ceramics, aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy, copper alloy, intermetallic compounds, superconductors, titanium alloys, super-alloys, molybdenum, tungsten, graphite, etc.( e.g. laser welding, arc welding, brazing, diffusion bonding, transient liquid phase bonding-TLPB, ultra-sonic assisted brazing and TLPB).

6. Materials Synthesis and Materials processing physical simulation.
