All undergraduate offers are made by the Tsinghua University Admissions Office. In general, for domestic applicants (high school students from the Chinese mainland), the Admission Office offers admission in three ways: National College Entrance Examination (NCEE), University Independent Recruitment and Recommended Admission.
For overseas students, qualified applicants should be over 18 and below 25 years of age, with good physical and mental health and qualified academic performance equivalent to that of foreign citizens who have obtained a Chinese Senior High School Diploma. A Certificate of a Chinese Proficiency Test with a qualified HSK band is also required, and the grade of each of the subjects should also be qualified. Applicants must initially complete an online application (http://is.tsinghua.edu.cn/app/) to expose their background information, including high school records, HSK tests, etc. If they are qualified, they are required to pass an entrance examination in April of each year. For science, engineering and management programs, the exam covers mathematics, physics, chemistry and English. An interview is also required after the entrance examination.
The Mechanical Engineering Program accepts approximately 150 students annually via either of the above ways, pursuant to their declared wills.
