Areas of Research Interests/ Research Projects
Prof. Li Decai was born in Cangzhou, Hebei province in December 1965. He is the professor of Tsinghua University's Department of Mechanical Engineering, doctoral supervisor, associate director of state key laboratory of tribology of Ttsinghua university..

Professor Li receives dozens of honorary titles, including: Distinguished Professor of "Changjiang Scholar” by Ministry of Education, State-level Candidate for for New Century Talents Project, team leader of "Innovative Team Development Plan" of the Ministry of Education, the Government Special Allowance of the State Council owner, 100 leading talents in "Tech Beijing", Science, technology and management talents with outstanding contributions in Beijing, Beijing Teaching masters award, Beijing Outstanding Teacher Award, Special prize of Baogang Excellent Teacher’s Prize and National model teacher.

In 2014, Professor Li participated in the 30th Teachers' Day and the National Education System Advanced Collectives and Advanced Individuals Commendation Conference, and was cordially received by President Xi Jinping and other national leaders.

Professor Li has presided over more than 60 research projects at or above the provincial or ministerial level, including the national No. 1 engineering project, the national manned space program, key projects of the national natural science foundation of China, and the national natural science foundation of China. He has won 10 prizes as the first winner at or above the provincial or ministerial level, including two the second prize of national technology invention award, the first prize of the university scientific research outstanding achievement award technology invention award the first prize of Beijing science and technology award. He has published more than 260 related research papers, of which more than 180 were included in SCI and EI sources. Li Decai has also Independently published 3 monographs, participated in the compilation of 1 monograph and 3 textbooks. As the first inventor, he has applied for nearly 200 patents and 99 of them has been authorized, and his patent achievements are widely used in national defense and national economic construction.

For many years, Professor Li has devoted himself to the fundamental theoretical research on the design and control of liquid-magnetic mechatronics system, applications of nanomagnetic liquids in sealing, vibration reduction, sensing, micromechanics, soft robots and biomedicine, research on nanomagnetic fluid dynamics theory, preparation and characterization of nanomagnetic materials, research on the theory and application of magnetorheological fluid, research on the theory and application of modern magnetic technology and MEMS, research on the theory and application of magnetic liquid seal, magnetic seal, magnetic liquid and mechanical combined seal, labyrinth seal, etc. Up to now, he has supervised nearly 20 doctoral students, more than 100 master students.
