History
With the Teacher Research Group of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, the Teacher Research Group of Metal Cutting Machines and Tools, and the Teacher Research Group of Engineering Painting, which were established in 1952, as the predecessors, the Institute of Manufacturing Engineering was established based on the mergers of the Teacher Research Group of Mechanical Manufacturing Technology, Equipment and Automation, the Manufacturing System Laboratory of the National CIMS Engineering Research Center, the Robot Research Laboratory, and the Teacher Research Group of Engineering Graphics and Computer-aided Design from 1994 to 1999. The institute offers degrees under master's programs, doctoral programs and post-doctoral programs in two secondary disciplines, i.e. Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, and Mechanical Design and Theory. It is an institute responsible for teaching and researches on mechanical design, control and management, based on manufacturing science and technology. Having been established for 60-plus years, the Institute of Manufacturing Engineering and its predecessors have made outstanding contributions to the development of China's mechanical manufacturing industry and disciplines.
