Education background

2013 to the present, Working on R&D of micro/nano manufacturing technologies, as a professor, in Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University, China.

2004-2012, Worked on R&D of micro/nano manufacturing technologies, as a professor, in Department of Precision Instruments and Mechanology, Tsinghua University, China.

1994-2004 Engaged in the research on micromachining and microactuators, as an associate professor, in Department of Precision Instruments and Mechanology, Tsinghua University, China.

1992-1994 Worked on R&D of micro flow measuring, micro pump and valve, as a post-doctoral research fellow, at Tsinghua University, China.

1991-1992 Engaged in the research on automatic polishing process, supported by the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship, Japan.

1987-1991 Engaged in the research on end milling process, and received Ph.D. degree in precision engineering at Niigata University,Japan.

1985-1987 Majored in precision engineering, and received M.S. degree from Niigata University,Japan.

1978-1982 Majored in manufacturing technology and received B.S. degree in mechanical engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology,China.

Areas of Research Interests/ Research Projects

The research interest is in micro/nano manufacturing field. The current research topics include micro EDM, micro ECM, hybrid micro machining, ultra-precision machining and microfluidic MEMS.

The research activities relate to fundamental research on micro EDM and ECM and their hybrid process, development of EDM drill and EDM/ECM process for micro nozzles and valve seats of diesel engine, EDM/ECM process and equipment for cooling holes of aero engine and gas turbine, servo scanning process of EDM and ECM for 3D micro structures, ultra-precision machining of Fresnel lens dies by single-point diamond cutting tool, as well as design and fabrication of microfluidic devices including flexible MEMS skin, inkjet head, biochips etc.
